[Series of texts by @fatnutritionist, which read: “People are mad at me because they ‘work so hard’ to be fit or lose weight. They have told me this explicitly. It implies that they think my rejecting the values they subscribe to can somehow take away the fitness they’ve worked for. That is totally delusional. If you’ve worked hard for fitness, no amount of fat people rejecting stigma can take that away. So this is obviously not actually about fitness, at all. It’s about the other thing they ‘worked hard’ for: social status. They DO think, and they know, that the social status they have worked hard to earn, through ‘fitness,’ can be devalued. It can be devalued if the hierarchy that rewards them is crushed. Crushed by people rejecting stigma. We can’t take away your fitness or whatever weight you’ve lost. But we can devalue those things by destroying fat stigma. So they are afraid of us, and for good reason. If fat people aren’t stigmatized, then there is no more thin privilege. Remember always, fat people: People are afraid of you because you have an awesome power - to destroy the hierarchy. If they were not afraid of losing their place in the hierarchy, they would not come after you so viciously.” All tweets were accompanied by the hashtag, #notyourgoodfatty]

Snaps to all this!

Men want what they want.

So much of our culture caters to giving men what they want. A high school student invites model Kate Upton to attend his prom, and he’s congratulated for his audacity. A male fan at a Beyoncé concert reaches up to the stage to slap her ass because her ass is there, her ass is magnificent, and he wants to feel it. The science fiction fandom community is once again having a heated discussion, across the Internet, about the ongoing problem of sexual harassment at conventions — countless women are telling all manner of stories about how, without their consent, they are groped, ogled, lured into hotel rooms under false pretenses, physically lifted off the ground, and more.

But men want what they want. We should all lighten up.

It’s hard not to feel humorless as a woman and a feminist, to recognize misogyny in so many forms, some great and some small, and know you’re not imagining things. It’s hard to be told to lighten up because if you lighten up any more, you’re going to float the fuck away. The problem is not that one of these things is happening, it’s that they are all happening, concurrently and constantly.

These are just songs. They are just jokes. They are just movies. It’s just a hug. They’re just breasts. Smile, you’re beautiful. Can’t a man pay you a compliment? In truth, this is all a symptom of a much more virulent cultural sickness — one where women exist to satisfy the whims of men, one where a woman’s worth is consistently diminished or entirely ignored.

Thank God We Solved Racism…

This epitomizes why the politics of respectability is so pointless and a ridiculous way to solve racism.

O’Reiley himself claims that if black men dress right, stay in school, and etc that they will be treated with respect. And yet, he blatantly disrespects a Columbia Professor dressed in a suit by reducing him to a cocaine dealer. This is how white people work. They give conditions for you to be treated with humanity, but even when you meet those arbitrary conditions you’re still treated as less than human.

And black people need to become wiser to these tactics. Because then Don Lemon wouldn’t have made the silly statements he made.

Bill O’Reily strikes me as some kind of sick joke

"This is how white people work" You’re inferring that all white people act the same way is racist as well. I would have agreed with you fully if you had not said that one little phrase. Now all I can see is that YOU are racist towards white people. Which would put you in the same boat as Bill O’Reiley.

Reverseracism is a myth. Racism is institutional. ALL white people benefit from racism. Most of you participate in subtle racism and if you don’t, you still benefit from racism. Most of you are ignorant to the fact that the world is not a ‘post racial’ society. Most of you are either : active bigots, timid bigots, fair weather bigots.

Active Bigot – “All-weather bigot" – Example: Openly racist and makes racial remarks regardless of audience.

Timid Bigot – prejudice but afraid of the consequences of discrimination.

Fair-weather Liberal (Reluctant Liberal) – Discriminates without having personal prejudice. Will not call out another person for being racist, will usually laugh at racist jokes/actions. These people almost always think they are not “racist”.
